This Privacy Policy is effective as of 1st October 2010.


NewsZapped provides this Privacy Policy to inform users of our policies and procedures regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personally identifiable information received from users of this website, located at www.NewsZapped.com or collected through our affiliated websites (collectively known as "Site/Sites”) or collected through our social networking service, including via SMS, MMS, 3G Video Posting and Sharing Service, WAP, NewsZapped Mobile Client on mobile phones (hereafter known as "Services”). This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason; each version will apply to information collected while it was in place. We will inform you of any material changes to our Privacy Policy by posting the new Privacy Policy on our Site. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes.


By using our Site and Services you are consenting to our processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us from time to time. "Processing" on our site means using cookies on a computer or using or touching information in any way, including, but not limited to, collecting, storing, deleting, using, combining and disclosing information; “Processing” on our mobile client means downloading and installing of a thin client (small software) onto mobile phones to, including but not limited to, collecting, storing, deleting, using, combing and disclosing information, all of which activities will take place in our servers located in Malaysia. If you reside outside of Malaysia, your personally identifiable information will be transferred to Malaysia, and processed and stored there under Malaysia privacy standards. Information Collection and Use


Information Collected Upon Registration. If you desire to have access to certain restricted sections of the Site, you will be required to become a registered user, and to submit certain personally identifiable information to NewsZapped. This happens in a number of instances, such as when you sign up for the Services online or via Mobile SMS, or if you desire to receive marketing materials and information. Personally identifiable information that we may collect in such instances may include your Internet Protocol address (‘IP address’), full user name, password, electronic mail (email) address, city, time zone, telephone number, and other information that you decide to provide us with, or that you decide to include in your public profile.


At some of our Sites, you can order products, enter contests, vote in polls or otherwise express an opinion or participate in one of our online forums or communities. In the course of these various offerings, we often seek to collect from you various forms of personal information. Examples of the types of personally identifiable information that may be collected at these pages include: name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, fax number, credit card information, and information about your interests in and use of various products, programs, and services.


At certain parts of some of our Sites, only persons who provide us with the requested personally identifiable information will be able to order products, programs, and services or otherwise participate in the site's activities and offerings.

Additional Information Your full user name and yourr photo, if you decide to upload one, are displayed to people in the NewsZapped network to enable you to connect with people on NewsZapped, as specified in your privacy settings. Once a member, you may provide additional information in the profile section, including but not limited to your bio-data, your location, as well as your personal web site, if you have one. Providing additional information beyond what is required at registration is entirely optional, but enables you to better identify yourself and find new friends and opportunities in the NewsZapped system. When you use NewsZapped Services, as per our NewsZapped Terms of Service (hyperlink), we will collect your mobile phone number information. You will receive notifications on your mobile phone such as when a NewsZapped member adds you as a friend or sends you a message to notify you of a recently posted video or photo or text content. If you contact us by email through the Site, we may keep a record of your contact information and correspondence, and may use your email address, and any information that you provide to us in your message, to respond to you.


Use of Contact Information We may use the information you provide about yourself to, inter alia (amongst others):-

  1. fulfill your requests for our products, programs, and services;
  2. respond to your inquiries about our offerings;
  3. offer you other products, programs or services that we believe may be of interest to you;
  4. enforce the legal terms that govern your use of our Sites, and/or for the purposes for which you provided the information;
  5. sometimes, to communicate with you with respect to our products and services including but not limited to our Services;

We may share with third parties certain pieces of aggregated, non-personal information, such as the number of users who searched for a particular term, for example, or how many users clicked on a particular advertisement. Such information does not identify you individually.


We may sell, transfer or otherwise share some or all of our assets, including your personally identifiable information, in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets or in the event of bankruptcy.


We may disclose personally identifiable information to third parties whose practices are not covered by this privacy statement (e.g., other marketers, magazine publishers, retailers, participatory databases, and non-profit organizations) that want to market products or services to you. Log Data When you visit the Sites, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website ("Log Data”). This Log Data may include information such as your IP address, browser type or the domain from which you are visiting, the web pages you visit, the search terms you use, and any advertisements on which you click. For most users accessing the Internet from an Internet service provider the IP address will be different every time you log on. We use Log Data to monitor the use of the Sites and of our Service, and for the Site’s technical administration. Compliance with Laws and Law Enforcement NewsZapped cooperates with government and law enforcement officials or private parties to enforce and comply with any applicable law, regulations or enforceable government request. We may disclose any information about you to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate to respond to claims, legal process (including subpoenas), to protect the property and rights of NewsZapped or a third party, the safety of the public or any person, to prevent or stop any illegal, unethical, or legally actionable activity, or to comply with the law.

 

 

Changing or Deleting Information


All registered users may review, update, correct or delete their personal information in their registration profile by accessing their Account Settings (Profile) page. If you completely delete all such information then your account will become deactivated. If you would like us to delete your record in our system, please contact us at support@newszapped.com and we will attempt to accommodate your request if we do not have any legal obligations to retain the record

 

 

Security


NewsZapped is very concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your personally identifiable information. We employ appropriate administrative, physical and electronic measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access.


We are concerned about identity theft and the practice of currently known as ‘phishing’. Accordingly to safeguard information and to help protect you from identity theft we do not and will not at any time request for your credit card information, your Account ID or login password, national identification numbers in a non-secure or unsolicited e-mail or telephone communication.


We will make any legally-required disclosures of any breach of the security, confidentiality, or integrity of your unencrypted electronically stored personal data to you via email or conspicuous posting on this Site in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay, consistent with (i) the legitimate needs of law enforcement or (ii) any measures necessary to determine the scope of the breach and restore the reasonable integrity of the data system.

Newszapped operates globally so it is necessary to transfer your information internationally. In particular, your information will likely be transferred to and processed in Malaysia where many of our central databases operate or may be processed by third party service providers outside of Malaysia on our behalf. The data protection and other laws of other countries may not be as comprehensive as those in your country. Please be assured that we take reasonable steps to ensure that your privacy is protected.

Our Policy Towards Children


The Site is not directed to persons under 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with personally identifiable information without their consent, he or she should contact us at privacy@newszapped.com. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal identifiable Information, we will delete such information from our files.
